Last month, I said that I was holding off on sharing the articles about the Complemntarianism-submission within the Trinity debate. I have curated a list of what I thought were the most helpful articles. If you're interested, feel free to let me know!
Otherwise, without further ado, here are this month's articles:
How Should I Process the Current Tensions and Violence in Our Country? by Kevin DeYoung at The Gospel Coalition
It's been a hard month for our country - and I live in the thick of it, right next to where the Black Lives Matter protestors walked onto the freeway. DeYoung does a great job of calmly, and I think rightly, responding to such events.
The Difference Between Our Sanctification and Our Glorification by Ligonier Ministries
I enjoyed this 5 minute video of R.C. Sproul using a brilliant, but simple illustration, that shows us just how far we are from being like Jesus, and the true glory that awaits us.
Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord: Our Settled Preference by Mike Riccardi at The Cripplegate
Paul said, "To live is Christ, to die is gain." He was convinced that it is better to be "absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord." What say you?
The Origin of Calvinism by John Piper at Ligonier Ministries
John Piper lends his hand to Ligonier to briefly speak of Calvin, and Calvinist's, beholden view of the majesty of God. "The Calvinist is the [person] who sees God behind all phenomena, and in all that occurs recognizes the hand of God… who makes the attitude of the soul to God in prayer the permanent attitude… and who casts himself on the grace of God alone, excluding every trace of dependence on self from the whole work of salvation."
Working Well by Tim Challies
Since I started working a few years ago, I have been on the lookout for helpful reflections about working as a Christian to the glory of God. As always, Challies is straight forward and helpful. It reminds me of the article I wrote at the end of 2015 - Reflections on Work Life.
Forever, O LORD,
Your word is settled in heaven.
Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;
You established the earth, and it stands.
They stand this day according to Your ordinances,
For all things are Your servants.
If Your law had not been my delight,
Then I would have perished in my affliction.
I will never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have revived me.
I am Yours, save me;
For I have sought Your precepts.
The wicked wait for me to destroy me;
I shall diligently consider Your testimonies.
I have seen a limit to all perfection;
Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
